Cruising for the first time alone…

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

One of the questions that I had before I started with cruise line jobs is would it be too boring if I went out alone? Having no friends or anyone that I know of to start with seems like a very lonely thing to do, but after a while, I got the answer to that question… cruising alone is boring, if you make it one, but it doesn’t have to be.

Having jobs on cruises is a great opportunity to meet a lot of new friends. When you are assigned to your department, you will surely find a crew or two coming from the same country as yours and that is an instant friend. Companions on board are not hard to find as there are a lot of crews working alone or did not bring their friends with them.

There are tons of activities on board the cruise ship and by participating in these, you will make a friend. One of the activities that crews and passengers have are sports, the bars and the pool. The activities are not the exact way to get new friends but the group and individuals that you meet along the way. Guests and cruisers can be friends as well. Not all cruisers are with companion and you can have a chat with them while you are doing your job. That is of course if they permit you to and vice versa.

You should be aware of the programs and activities they have on board and as many cruise lines let their crews use amenities and facilities while they have a rest day, it is a great opportunity to have fun. Stay away from your cabin as much as possible and don’t be shy.

One of the great ways to meet new friends on board is during meal time. Most cruise ship crews doesn’t have the same time for their meals but they do take it on groups. Once you have your food time, share tables with your fellow crews and make friends along the way.

You can get on a cruise ship alone with out knowing anyone but get off it having lots of friends and groups. And the next time you take on your cruise ship jobs, you can be sure that you will have friends and you can make more. Cruise Ship Community

Friday, September 25th, 2009

The life in cruise ship is the kind of life that most people badly want. Being on a ship, traveling the whole time is a great opportunity to explore and recognize the beauty of the world that God created. A cruise ship tour will take you to some place that only few has visited. And it is not just the destination that is so inviting. The treatment and features that you get while riding the ship is extraordinary. You’ll get the best of the services from the crews and employees inside the cruise.

A cruise ship is a one whole community sailing above the sea. What made me say these is the evident positive changes that is happening on the cruise ship industry. There are innovations being introduced that erases the difference between the life on the land and the life inside the ship. Right now, every little things that you can ever think of is doable while traveling. There’s no more you can ever ask of a cruise ship experience and yet, they act as if they still need improvements.

Entertainment is one of the most promoted features of cruise ships. This is their main priority. And so, they are doing non-stop research as to how they can keep their riders delighted and take home an unforgettable experience. Casinos, theater, pools, malls, restaurants and other recreations are now available on luxury cruises. You can use all your time without getting bored or sick. There is no more time to sulk in the corner because there are loads of entertainment provided for you.

If you prefer a progressive activity, cruise ship has it. You can now play basketball while traveling. You can also jog, climb walls and other moving sports. There are also gyms where you can work out your body. This is the best feature of a cruise ship ride. Even though you are aboard, you still have time to do all ordinary things that you do on the land. At least you don’t have to wait for the next stop to get off and go back to your usual routine.

If you think you need a make over, there are cruise ship jobs like barbershops and salons that can do it for you. There are barbers and beauticians that will keep you away from looking so worn-out. There are also boutiques where you can choose the the best clothes and dresses to be use in particular celebrations.

Shopping malls are the recently added feature of a luxury cruise ship. Shopping is not a forgotten tale for travelers. They can still continue their shopping escapade even if they are above the sea.

A cruise ship experience is so amusing. Imagination is the limit for everyone. Anything you ask for, you can have them on a cruise ride. Modern cruising is like taking the city with you. The city is kept alive on your cruise travel.

Cruising – Time To Say Goodbye

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Well, as we all know, all things, good or bad has to come to an end. And a very relaxing, fun and unforgettable cruise will eventually come to its last day and you will find yourself in a port on making your way home.

Disembarking the cruise ship is not as easy as riding and living in it. To some passengers, the worst part of the cruise is the part where they have to go home. Not because the cruise has given some sentimental or emotional experience for them but because of the disembarking process.

If you would be in your first cruise, the process of disembarking begins the night before departure. You will given color coded tags for your luggage. This color represents the group you are allocated to the time you have to meet your transportation that will take you home or to your next destination. Your stewardess or the attendant who has given you this tags will ask you to place your luggage outside your cabin the night before you arrived at your last port, which is the city where you disembark. Before you do so, you should plan what to wear that evening and the morning after along with the things you need to use like toothbrush or razor.

You will be asked to clear your cabin depending on the time that is advised to you the night before. Certain cruise lines still offers breakfast for the passengers before they leave or while they wait for the assigned color to be called and give the passenger permission to leave the ship. Once you are on shore, you will still be in the terminal and just like in an airport, you will have to locate your luggage which will be with the luggage with the same color tag as your. And same as that of the airport, you will also have to through customs and declare what you bring and your luggage will be inspected.

Once you have all your luggage and cleared of the custom, you can now make your way home keeping with you memories of a great time on cruise. The process of disembarking is not that hard for the passengers but it is a complicated process for those with cruise ship jobs. The assigned stewardess will have to visit the designated rooms and see to it that they have their tags. On the night before they leave, the stewards would then collect hundreds of luggage and carry them to the terminal and still have to group them depending on what color they have. Once they are done, they will now clear the rooms and the morning and bid the passengers good bye.

Remember that even though a 3 or 7 day cruise seems long, you should always make the most out of it as on the last night of the cruise, you will wish that you were still on board as being on cruise is one of the best experience one could have in his life.
