History

Disney Cruise Line is a part of the Walt Disney Company and run by Karl Holz. The head quarter is found in Celebration Florida.

The first Disney Cruise Line ship was first launched in 1998 prior to the company's announcement of their interest in investing on cruise lines in 1994. The Walt Disney Company had plans to let Disney enthusiasts enjoy everything about Disney while on board at the sea. And so, they created the Disney Cruise Lines.

In 1998, the company's first ship “Disney Magic” sailed the sea for the very first time. Its first passengers were selected through a lottery happened in 1997. Disney Magic has a resemblance to the ships of 1920's, with a distinctly art deco theme. Unlike the usual cruise line, Disney Magic don't have casinos, since their target customers are mostly children.

The cruise line's second vessel, “Disney Wonder”, arrived in Port Canaveral on August 2nd 1999 and embarked on her maiden voyage on August 15th.

Like the Disney Magic, the Disney Wonder was built by the legendary Fincantieri Shipyards in Italy and features a large painting on its stern of Donald Duck and his nephew Huey.
